The best we’ve never seen? (unless you’re a VFL buff)
LIKE most of us, Nick Sautner is pleased for James Podsiadly, happy for the VFL.
“I think it’s fantastic,” the Sandringham captain says, yet there’s a hint of envy, maybe even a tinge of jealousy. Perfectly understandable, too.
Podsiadly, 28, finally is living his dream at AFL level. Already a crowd favourite at Geelong, he has kicked 12 goals in his four games, with two bags of five, and played in front of 70,000 people on the MCG against Carlton in his third game.
Sautner, 32, certainly is entitled to wonder what might have been with an ounce of luck.
They have been the VFL’s gun forwards of the past decade, with Sautner the superior performer on all measures.
